About Me

Hi! I'm Julie Desmarais and I am currently a first grade teacher in Gainesville, Florida. I have only been teaching 3 years, going on my fourth. I have actually never taught first grade, and next year will be my first. I started teaching second grade, and moved to Kindergarten after that. I am VERY excited to work with first grade!

I graduated from the University of Florida in 2010, and took a much needed year off to travel. I love to travel and see new things. I travel every summer to my favorite destination, and the place I call my second home, Quebec Canada. I have seen much of Europe and have traveled to Central America several times. My future plans include New Zealand, Australia, and South America.

I am currently living with my wonderful boyfriend in the heart of Florida, and we are both very big Florida Gator fans! We love football, and look forward to it every year. We both enjoy the water, and are always hiking, or kayaking down the rivers that surround our wonderful home. If we are not on rivers and lakes, we are at the beach enjoying the Florida sunshine.

I have no children, but I have a wonderful and adorable puppy named Bella. She is my heart, and I love her to pieces. She was rescued from an abandoned litter here in Gainesville, but is as spoiled as can be. She is a snuggle bug, and has stolen a piece of my heart. 

I decided to start this blog because I have so many ideas for my classroom, and my school year and I just needed a place to organize my thoughts. I want to post ideas for me, and if others can benefit from them, than I am happy to share. I also love to reflect on my teaching, and use this as a sort of journal to track my progress as an educator. I hope it will one day help me connect with the wonderful teachers I love to follow on blogger. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or just to chat!
