Fall is here!

My favorite time of year has arrived! Not only do I get Pumpkin Spice lattes and Football, I get to take out all my Fall fun. Some themes we cover in Fall include Community Helpers, Apples, Pumpkins, and Spook-tacular spiders, owls, bats and scarecrows. The kids love to experience the weather change as we begin to talk about seasons, and changing of weather. My weather friends have been monitoring the weather every day, and I can't wait until we can begin to chart something other than sunny and warm! (That is a bit tough living in Florida.) This week is everything Apples! Check out some fun craftivites and books we read.

I Love Smorgie

So, I have been following dear Mr. Greg and his mustaches. He gives me such great ideas! and His lesson plans are free, of course I need to take and use what fits for me and my class. I just love his ideas and WILL be snagging a few. Here is a link to his blog. I hope I am allowed to do this?! I mean, I have no followers, this is more for me so I can keep my sanity and quickly find what I need all in one place. hehe This blog post is just in case someone happens to read this.

First Week of School Read Alouds

First Week of school?? Yes! and I am so ready. I love this list because it isn't all "first day" stuff. This list also includes books that help children understand that everyone is different and the Kindergarten is all about learning to accept others, and to to accept yourself. I PREACH love, kindness and respect daily as should ll teachers. Thank you Mr. Gregg for this list. :)

September

Busy, busy bee I am! My kiddos this year are amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better class. We have practiced many procedures, and have been working on things such as...
1. Using kind words
2. Sharing
3. Cutting!
4. Writing our names correctly
5. Using our words
6. Reporting, not tattling

Beginning of year in kindergarten is pretty overwhelming, and teaching these things is crucial and key to having a happy and successful school year. These five things are only 5 of the hundreds of things we teach at the beginning. We've also been working on getting workstations right, so I can start pulling my small groups. We are almost there!

My kiddos loved taking their first day pictires with this sign. I really captured their excitement.

Just a few of the stories I start off with. I love to read to my kids, and read to them any chance I get!

Again, busy busy bee!
